“Don’t Smoke Your Life Away” is the title of Julie Rogers “Gift of Life” program aimed at keeping cigarettes out of the hands of young adults.
Beaumont ISD is enthused to embark on this program with Julie Rogers “Gift of Life” to help win the fight against tobacco use. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, some teens don’t take smoking seriously and may be addicted to cigarettes and may not be aware. An expert with the Centers for Disease Control also says smoking can cause cancers of the lung, pancreas, bladder and cervix, as well as shortness of breath, heart attack and strokes. Additionally, non-smokers are exposed to health risks, such as lung cancer, heart disease and asthma.
Members of Julie Rogers “Gift of Life” program will work closely with Beaumont Independent School District employees in educating students about the harmful effects of smoking.
