Today has been a very trying and difficult day for the staff of the BISD. We have requested a high level of professionalism, a high level of confidence and a genuine attitude of cooperation. The community at large can be assured that the misuse of public funds by any member of the BISD staff will not be tolerated. We will continue to ask the public for their confidence and trust as we work to resolve this most difficult matter.
Financial transactions will proceed in accordance with all rules and regulations in a routine manner. Payroll procedures, vendor contracts, insurance payments and all other phases of our financial operations will proceed as normal and will not be impacted as we work through the required resolutions.
The district is fully solvent and we will rise above this and continue upon the most important path of educating our children.
Admittedly federal authorities did pay an onsite visit to my residence. The sole purpose for this visit was to inform me of the ensuing investigation and to secure my cooperation as superintendent of the Beaumont ISD relative to the initial investigatory contact approach. Authorities in no way considered me complicit in this matter. I am not a target of this investigation.
Be reminded that the investigation is in an extremely preliminary stage. Let me put rumors to rest of any criminal charges or takeover of Beaumont ISD by any state agency. So far only two known suspects who are district employees are being investigated. The two individuals targeted have been placed on administrative leave. It is the district’s intent to fully investigate and provide information to the FBI.
Again, I reiterate the district is fully solvent and we will conduct business as usual. No other statement will be issued until the investigation has been completed.
