Lucas Pre-K Center

Lucas Pre-K Center has the best curriculum and instruction programs which includes Frog Street Press and Istation (computer program that tests our students monthly according to their ability and also gives teachers resources to use for intervention if needed).   All teachers have been trained to used the CIRCLE Program which is a preschool early language and literacy program which includes a mathematics manual.

Students who attend Lucas Pre-K Center must be 4 years old on or before September 1.

Qualification criteria are:

  • Limited English Proficient
  • Educationally Disadvantaged (Family Income)
  • Educationally Disadvantaged (Family Assistance)
  • Educationally Disadvantaged (Head Start)
  • Homeless
  • Military Dependent
  • Foster Care

What makes us unique?

  • Our students have an opportunity to get a head start on education (NCLB).
  • Our students receive intervention during the regular school day.
  • Our students receive a full day of learning the core subjects.
  • Our bilingual students are being taught through a One-Way Dual Program.
  • We receive Title I funds which allows us to purchase technology (ipads, ipods, projectors, interactive whiteboards) and other materials so that ALL of our students get the best education possible.
  • Our parents receive monthly workshops on how they can assist their child at home.
  • For the pasts three years, at least 90% or more of our students have moved on to kindergarten with the skills they need to be successful (just ask Martin and Jones-Clark).
  • It doesn’t matter where the child lives in Beaumont; they can attend Lucas-Pre-K Center and receive transportation according to transportation guidelines.

Interested applicants must complete an application interview.  Required documents include copies of child’s Social Security Card, Medicaid/insurance Card, Birth Certificate, proof of residency, all income for the prior year, up-to-date shot record, and any other sources of income such as TANF or SSI.  Once the application is complete, those deemed eligible are placed into classrooms based on the Federal Selection Point System.
