The West Brook football team will play in the Houston Texans' home this fall.
West Brook will play a District 21-5A game against North Shore on Oct. 25 at Reliant Stadium, West Brook coach Kevin Flanigan said Thursday.
"I think it's a great experience for the kids," Flanigan said. "It will be an opportunity for the guys to see a playoff atmosphere. If you get into the playoffs you're going to play in some stadiums like that, and it gives you an opportunity to get that experience."
Flanigan said Reliant Stadium officials contacted him two weeks ago to see if he was interested. It will be a home game for West Brook, and Flanigan said he doesn't mind trading a home district game at the Beaumont ISD Thomas Center for a game at Reliant.
Nederland is the most recent area team to play in Reliant as the Bulldogs defeated Pearland Dawson 22-19 in the third round of the playoffs last season. Port Arthur Memorial played two playoff games at Reliant in 2011 and Nederland and Port Neches-Groves both played non-district games at Reliant in 2006 and 2007.
"I think it's a pretty special deal for these guys and I don't know how many of them will get an opportunity to play in Reliant Stadium," Flanigan said.
