Musicians Dr. Timothy Chargois, Superintendent of Beaumont ISD and Dr. Jimmy Simmons, President of Lamar University paid homage today to American music legend the late George Jones. They placed a memorial in front of the Jefferson Theater and hung a banner recognizing Jones. Dr. Simmons performed with Jones in his early days. Dr. Chargois commented that regardless of people’s differences, music always serves to bring them together and that’s what he hopes to do in Beaumont ISD and be like music and bring our community together for the good of children.
